A Mirror of Human Culture

At Trinity we believe that the study of visual and performing arts is a vital component of any well-rounded education.  All students are offered instruction in music, drama, and the visual arts. Through the arts, Trinity students develop an aesthetic sense and appreciation that will enhance all areas of their lives and further enhance a passion for lifelong learning.

Exploring the historical and cultural significance of art provides the opportunity for our students to understand and appreciate the role of the artist as historian and creator of new and original modes of perception. Concepts are presented as interdisciplinary whenever possible, allowing Trinity students to discover art's interconnectedness with other subject areas.

Further, to participate fully in a diverse, global society, students must understand their own historical and cultural heritage and those of others within their communities and beyond. We believe Trinity’s programs bring to light the relevance of the arts in everyday life and provide an essential richness to education unparalleled by most other schools.

Trinity students learn not only the academic aspects of the arts - theory, technique, and history -- but also the sheer joy of performing, whether for one’s self or in front of a live audience, and displaying their personal handiwork in formal exhibits.  As teachers we have also witnessed the arts as a wonderful vehicle for building self-esteem and confidence while encouraging students to explore, to develop and to celebrate their own imaginations.

Instruction in and exposure to arts is an essential part of the process as students develop individual strengths and passions. Students are encouraged to take risks, build confident self-expression, develop sensitivity to cultural differences, and respect the work of fellow students.
