Life After Eighth Grade
We are proud of the many directions our students take as they complete their Trinity education, which include attending the most competitive public and private schools in the area and the nation. More importantly we support each student in finding an educational environment best suited for his or her academic interests, abilities and extra-curricular pursuits.
A good high school search and application process requires two bases of knowledge: self-knowledge and a thorough understanding of high school with programs and people that support and encourage student interests and abilities. We view this search as a collaborative endeavor between school and home, and we work closely with our families to educate and inform them of the high school search process.
To assist families, Trinity has a High School Placement Coordinator – a full-time staff position – who, with the assistance of a support committee including the Head of School, the Head of Middle School, the Director of Admission, and an 8th grade faculty member, has one primary goal: to guide families as they explore high school options and determine “good fits” for their children.
In the fall of the eighth grade year, Trinity hosts a program that presents an important overview of the high school search. Each student and parent is able to meet with admission representatives from local schools and discuss various high school options. Most children applying to independent schools take the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam), and to assist our students we offer an on-site preparation class to assist them with important test- taking strategies. Additionally, Trinity offers its 8th graders a private ISEE testing opportunity conducted on our campus.
As applications are filed at various schools, Trinity Episcopal School is in personal contact with the respective admission offices discussing our students and supporting their candidacies. We are committed to the future success of our students and advocating for them is a responsibility we undertake with pride and pleasure.
