Bringing Faith to Life

The fullest expressions of Trinity's Episcopal identity are evident day in and day out in a nurturing and loving community that cultivates care and acceptance of one another - in classrooms, offices, and hallways, in how we value each participant in the teaching-learning process, in what we think is possible, and in how we work together through easy and complicated times.  Matters of faith and community are not boxed into chapel or religion classes.  Rather, a graceful spirit, in the great tradition of Episcopal education, is infused in all aspects of Trinity school life.

As members of the National Association of Episcopal Schools, Trinity embraces the NAES description of Episcopal schools in a recent brochure, "In an Episcopal school, faith and reason are partners in an ethos that places learning solidly in the context of each person's lifelong search for truth. Within a Christian tradition of tolerance and open inquiry, an Episcopal education teaches students to welcome and respect diverse and differing points of view."

You can recognize Trinity's Episcopal identity in a variety of program elements:

• Trinity is accredited by the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools.
• The School's Episcopal identity is clearly reflected in the mission and core values which reflect a commitment to the whole child: mind, body, and spirit.
• Children and families from all faith traditions are welcome and, indeed, provide sources of richness and strength within the Trinity community-in itself an expression of the Episcopal tradition.  Trinity affirms and celebrates our Episcopal identity while respecting all religious traditions and beliefs.
• Trinity's Head of School is the spiritual leader and an ambassador and advocate for our Episcopal identity.
• Our School Chaplain also serves on the Administrative Team and is present as a teacher, preacher, model, and counselor for the Trinity community.
• Episcopal liturgies guide our community celebrations, from Opening Services in August, through the Christmas Pageant and Lessons & Carols in December, to Commencement in May.
• All students, faculty and staff attend chapel each morning.  Parents are warmly invited to join us.  The two daily chapel services group students by Lower School (grades K-4) and Middle School (grades 5-8).  Students learn the rhythm of the liturgical seasons while also valuing sensitivity to our community members of other faiths.
• Middle School students attend a Eucharist service each month.
• There are frequent All-School Chapels - observing, for example, Maundy Thursday, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Easter - which have become beloved traditions for the entire community.
• A long standing Episcopal tradition of community services connects us with the larger world and cultivates habits of service beginning in Kindergarten.  The School Chaplain directs Trinity's student service program throughout the year.
